For those lacking a strong chin, our chin implants can provide balance and definition.
Chin implants are a safe and predictable cosmetic surgical procedure. To date, millions of chin implants made from non-toxic materials such as silicone and expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) have been implanted by surgeons all around the world, with no reported cases of allergic reaction. The implants, designed specifically for use in the chin, come in a wide range of shapes and sizes. Here at Guerra Plastic Surgery Center, we customize these implants for a more natural fit.
Chin augmentation is a cosmetic surgery procedure designed to reshape or enhance the chin either by altering your existing bones or inserting a chin implant. For many patients, this cosmetic procedure gives a more attractive look of distinction and delivers a harmonious balance to the facial features, improving overall self-confidence.
The advantages of chin augmentation include:
Your Scottsdale plastic surgeon may also suggest having this procedure in combination with neck liposuction, or a facelift and neck lift for the stunning results.
If you want to add more shape, structure, and fullness to your chin or jawline, you may be a good candidate for a chin implant. Men and women alike can benefit significantly from the balancing effects facial implants provide.
During your pre-operative consultation, our plastic surgeon Dr. Scott Ogley will examine your physical health and mental well-being to ensure you are ready for surgery. And, before booking your surgery, you may also be asked to acquire clearance from your primary care provider, as you will be under general anesthesia. Here at Guerra Plastic Surgery Center, your safety is our top priority.

Outpatient surgery
In most cases, chin implant surgery is an outpatient procedure performed using general anesthesia. Once sedated, your surgery begins. Your cosmetic surgeon will first make a small incision underneath your chin or the inside of your mouth. Through this incision, your surgeon will create a pocket to fit the chin implant before positioning it around the bone.
Chin augmentation in Scottsdale typically takes less than an hour to complete. If you are having multiple procedures done, the operating time will increase accordingly. Surgical sutures will close your incisions and your chin may be bandaged for protection and support following surgery.
Non-invasive chin reshaping involves the use of an injectable dermal filler like Restylane® Lyft to reshape and contour the chin. This outpatient treatment is quick, safe, effective, and achieves a natural-looking, aesthetically-pleasing appearance. However, as dermal fillers are temporary, you can use Restylane® to improve your facial profile while you determine whether a chin augmentation with implant is right for you.
Most chin augmentation patients experience little downtime and are back to their daily activities within 7 days after surgery. Any pain or discomfort is typically minimal and easily managed with painkillers and cold compresses.
You will need to sleep face-up and with your head elevated for a minimum of 1 to 2 weeks after surgery to control post-operative swelling and protect your incisions. Your plastic surgeon may also require you to follow a liquid-only diet for a day or two following surgery. You may resume strenuous activities within 3 to 4 weeks after chin implant surgery. Throughout this critical phase of your journey, follow your plastic surgeon’s instructions to ensure you heal properly, as it helps produce the most desired chin augmentation results.
Results look close to final within a month after surgery and are considered final after 3 months, when residual swelling has subsided. Around this time, Dr. Ogley may ask you to return to his office to check on your progress.

Our chin implants are permanent cosmetic devices that can remain in place for the rest of your life. However, if you ever have a change of heart about your enhanced appearance, removing chin implants is a relatively straightforward procedure.
Our skilled surgeon Dr. Ogley will use his training and experience and his keen eye to provide you with a subtle, proportional outcome tailored to you.
Our chin implants are not one-size-fits-all. The typical profile chin implant shape can be divided into three types: Flat, Convex, and Curvilinear. Your surgeon will help you choose the appropriate size and shape to yield the most natural-looking outcome.
