Our eyes are one of the first things people notice. If those eyes look worn, it may reflect how old others perceive us.
As the age-old metaphor goes, “the eyes are the windows to the soul.” As we get older, our upper eyelids may droop and disrupt our vision due to excess skin. Our lower eyelids may also become puffy, while bags under the eye make us look exhausted. Eye creams can only do so much. For our patients in Scottsdale, blepharoplasty can correct drooping lids, reduce undereye puffiness, and diminish wrinkles in a way that looks natural. The result is a refreshed appearance that reflects how you really feel: happy, confident, and youthful.
Eyelid surgery, also called blepharoplasty or an eyelid lift, is a popular procedure that rejuvenates the area surrounding your eyes and rids your face of that tired appearance. Our plastic surgeons use a modern approach to restoring a healthy, youthful-looking lid area. By removing unwanted skin, along with a certain degree of volume augmentation, this advanced approach corrects a hollowed look and creates a more youthful eyelid.
If the years have weighed down the appearance of your eyes, you can wake up to the endless possibilities of eyelid surgery at Guerra Plastic Surgery Center. This procedure has the potential to:
Our plastic surgeons can perform eyelid surgery on patients of all ages. Consider the treatment once you feel dissatisfied with these cosmetic and functional issues:
If you are pursuing eyelid surgery, you should be a non-smoker of sound mind and body, who is not currently experiencing serious medical issues such as bleeding disorders or hypertension. You should also be undergoing blepharoplasty for yourself–not to please others. Lastly, you should set your expectations based on your pre-operative consultations with your surgeon.
For many patients in Arizona, blepharoplasty involves removing an ellipse of excess upper eyelid skin. Any scars heal without a trace, as Dr. Scott Ogley strategically hides his incisions in the eyelid crease. In patients with bulging upper eyelid fat, he removes a small amount through the same incisions. He ensures not to overdo fat removal because hollowing the upper eyelids may make a patient appear older than they are.
Dr. Scott Ogley generally performs eyelid surgery by placing the incision along the inside of the eyelid where it is unnoticeable. An incision made within the lower lid achieves a natural-looking contour, as opposed to older techniques. Occasionally, Dr. Ogley may remove lower eyelid skin by “pinching” the excess skin, which will heal unnoticeably within the lash line.
You have the option to combine blepharoplasty with injectables, a facelift, or a brow lift to give the upper portion of your face a more appealing, youthful look. The objective is to give you the most natural and harmonious results possible, and combining procedures that complement each other can help you achieve exactly that.
Just keep in mind that when an inexperienced surgeon performs these cosmetic procedures, it may give your eyes an unnatural or “surprised” look. During a blepharoplasty, our surgeons take extra precaution to produce results that enhance, not change, your facial features to make you look like the most desirable version of yourself.

In preparing for blepharoplasty in the Phoenix-Metro area, your surgeon will follow the protocols of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and ask you to:
Expect minor bruising, swelling, and some discomfort for at least a week after your surgery. To improve the healing process and reduce swelling, make sure to sleep on your back and avoid direct sun exposure for 1 to 2 weeks. Furthermore, although prescription glasses may be worn following your procedure, do not use your contact lenses for a minimum of 10 days and up to 2 weeks after surgery, depending on your progress and your surgeon’s instructions. You may engage in strenuous activities again and spend more time in the sun after 2 to 4 weeks.
You can look better without completely changing who you are. That is the goal of Dr. Ogley and his team, and they put this philosophy into practice with every transformative procedure they perform. Eyelid surgery in Scottsdale restores your youthful contours instead of making you look like a completely different person. Dr. Ogley achieves natural, bright-eyed results without overdoing your blepharoplasty.
Dr Ogley was very professional and helpful throughout the whole process of appointments before surgery, surgery, and after surgery! Would highly recommend him to anyone and everyone!!
Paired with a healthy lifestyle, you can expect to have long-lasting results. You can also prolong your results further by wearing a high SPF sunscreen daily and by maintaining a good skincare routine. While you will continue to age and show signs of it after treatment, a blepharoplasty slows down the process, allowing you to age gracefully for years to come.
During your upper blepharoplasty procedure, your surgeon will make incisions along the natural folds and creases of your lid. In the case of lower blepharoplasty, the incision is hidden on the inside of your lower eyelid or along the last line. Once your incisions heal, any scarring will be imperceptible.
As everyone ages at different rates, there is no one answer to this question. Because most eyes are naturally expressive and the skin surrounding them is so delicate, it tends to age faster than the rest of the face. For this reason, Dr. Ogley and his medical team work with many patients who decide to get eyelid surgery years before undergoing other anti-aging treatments such as a facelift or fillers.
